Stew

Stew

The poetic world of Bolesław Leśmian is a strongly deformed reflection of reality, external reality, supplemented with fantastic elements. There is no lack of dreams in it, dream visions, phenomena and figures from folk messages, often crippled beings, unhappy. The poet built his own from these ingredients, the original world governed by separate laws, The world was built with sometimes complicated and extremely distant philosophical constructions from simple parables. Thanks to their stories, they transform into allegories, symbol, They must be considered in a philosophical or moral context. The whole cosmos of Leśmian was created in this way, universe. Everything in it is liquid, is subject to constant changes, It creates and disappears, It can have very different forms.

Building the aforementioned complex world was an attempt for Leśmian to reach the eternal essence of phenomena, To this great secret, whose aura is surrounded by all this lyrics. The poet was looking for the essence of phenomena primarily in nature, her inexhaustible forces, in constant rebirth and death dramas, in the endless movement of nature, fight, hike – also in the final dimension, in the afterlife. The world of the author of the meadow is growing not only from the dark sieves of nature, human desires, But it also has an external, ballad props. He is populated by numerous creatures, fears, merry. They are often crippled beings (disfiguring the world) just like a stew brillted in this ballad in this ballad, And in fact, being a fantastic sleep figure:

It is not known today,
What was dreamed of Bajdale?
But we know, that disfiguring the hands of the sky,
Dusiołek came out of the ditch, like a half -babe from a bed.

Dusiołek unexpectedly appeared in the dream of goodies, he destroyed his inner peace of his soul, conscience – He not only chilled him with a literal sense, He sat down, as the bane does, on the breasts of the heat of man. So he probably wasn't just a bothersome majak, nightmare, which is forgotten right after waking up. So who was he? Certainly a folk symbol of evil, dark, Dark forces, with whom every person often has to struggle. Bajdała met evil while hiking in the company of a horse and ox, which he tried to stay in his soul for longer. The peasant from the poem by Bolesław Leśmian does not formulate thoughts in the shape of philosophical reflection, scholar, Asks God a simple question. However, this issue contains one of the most important problems for centuries being considered by philosophers – Why God, Creator of everything, He also created evil and gives consent to its existence:

Bajdala said to God:
O, rety – Olaboga!
Not enough for you, that you mounted me, Scale and Wołka,
Even you had to do such a stew?

Bajdała defended himself against evil trying to master his soul. In this fight he was not supported by the companions of the journey: ox and horse. The peasant was alone in the face of evil, he had to oppose himself. Human loneliness in the face of evil is another of the great philosophical issues, Constantly returning topics of literature, which is signaled by a seemingly trivial ballad of Leśmian.

Bajdala itself – who is that? Average peasant, Maybe somewhat willing to reflect, reflection on the world. Or maybe someone more, maybe a wise man who knows perfectly well? Let us note, that in the poem he did not tell the presented story. A mysterious fairy tale is telling the story, Girls listen to his narrative, Also nearby trees. Dusiołek is a playful (romantic ballads, np. Mickiewicza, They were deadly serious!) In the tone of a poem perfectly styled to a folk ballad (Despite the playful tone, The song refers in formal terms and to romantic ballads), His plot is based on folk ideas about the world. He draws motifs from folk stories (of them comes and the character of the stew), ballad, It processes them freely and serves them in a playful form. A story told by Leśmian, with an inattentive reading giving the impression of a simple, It's just a folk styling, In fact, the poem is distinguished by their finesse, workshop championship, lightness and sophisticated irony.
