Braking system – Fiat Uno

Fiat Uno cars are equipped with a dual-circuit braking system acting on the front discs, while at the rear for the brake drum (Engines 900,1100.1300,1300 D. 1700 D) or a shield (engine 1300 Turbo). The system is equipped with a brake force regulator and a power steering mechanism (servo). The servo is not fitted to cars with a motor 900. The vacuum needed to operate the servo is taken from the suction manifold (gasoline engines) or from a special pump (compression ignition engine).

All models have floating calipers on the front wheels, however, with a different mounting system for the clamp holder. On Turbo i.e cars. the brake disc is ventilated.

On all models (in addition to Turbo i.e.) rear brakes are drum type. The Turbo i.e. has disc brakes at the rear, with massive shields. The emergency brake acts via a cable on the rear wheels, namely:
- directly on the brake shoes, in the case of drum brakes,
- through the eccentric for the friction inserts, in the case of disc brakes.

The master cylinder is a tandem type, with two pistons connected in series. The first piston activates the circumference of the front wheels, while the second is the circumference of the rear wheels. It is not recommended to repair a leaking pump, but exchange.
