At the Round Table
Row, derived from 1922 year, is a kind of lyrical monologue expressed in an independent speech, One of the most beautiful twentieth -century love lyrics.
Independent speech it is a literal quotation in the literary work of the words of some character – separated from the narrative. This type of speech always occurs in dialogues (Often also in monologues, As is the case in the Tuwima poem), Therefore, it is also the basis for the construction of dramatic works.
The mentioned monologue is primarily expressed by the proposal to return to a well -remembered, close to the heart of the lyrical subject of the place, Probably the land of youth. He was directed to a beloved woman, only, the nicest and is a direct confession – Despite numerous rhetorical phrases accommodated in the song. Return to Tomaszów is intended to complete the conversation sadly not finished, and essentially important for the lyrical subject. Or also for the recipient of the poem? We don't know it exactly.
Monologue, As we mentioned, is an invitation to travel, visiting the homeland of youth: fixed in memory as a beautiful place, unique, but also a place, in which the drama of feelings took place. The time of departure is also not indifferent to, return to that magical place:
To this day at the round table
We are sitting dead, like entertained!
Who will disenteresting us? Who breaks out
From inexorable oblivion?
This disenchantment can only take place due to a joint return to Tomaszów. Otherwise it will not be possible to free from memories, get out of the circle of still recurring images of past days. In the White House, something bad happened between loving people, They parted there, But this parting is still not sad to this day. The poem says nothing about the content of the conversation at the round table. An important conversation was suddenly interrupted, The man left, The lovers parted without a word (Even without emotions on the part of a woman: So you say goodbye to me, / But your hand does not tremble in my hand), which probably became a greater tragedy for a man (The woman remains indifferent or accepts such a mask, Or maybe she rejected the man's feeling at all, She didn't love him?):
I still have a bright eyes
It flows into the lips of a salty drop,
And you don't like anything
And you eat green grapes.
We don't know, What was the reason for the separation. It is known, however, that strangers appeared in that house, their furniture was brought in. There is certainly no more table, On the other hand, the September silence remained at dusk. Like then, As during the memorable parting, whose reasons the lyrical subject cannot explain in any way, understand. However, there is one thing: All – stayed there. For that, Love remained in that house, The proximity of loving people. All this, what the lyrical subject still misses, What is still alive, what he thinks about here, in which it is now. In Tomaszów, the man left an important part of his life, can be assumed, that there, During the last conversation, his great hopes dispelled. Return, Finishing the conversation can be something beneficial for feelings, but it would rather become a kind of purification, Liberation from memories, which, in fact, weigh so much, because it is, What connected the woman and the man was not fully named, broke up, it fulfilled.
