Love
Without love, faith and hope cannot be imagined with human happiness, even full of humanity – Such a clearly formulated belief returns in many works by Czesław Miłosz. If so, This is necessary to reflect on the essence of love and this poem raises the eternal question: What is love, What is her nature. Love, The poet answers, it is a rejection of egoism and egocentrism (only at yourself, treating yourself as the center of the world), understanding, that everyone is only one of the creatures. To understand that, You should change the perspective of viewing yourself, stand among other people (How similar to us) and things, look at yourself:
Love means to look at yourself,
As you look at foreign things,
Because you are just one of the things of many.
And who looks like that, Although he doesn't know it himself,
He treats his heart from worrying about various,
The bird and the tree speak: friend.
Love of neighbor is also tolerance, Understanding for all world manifestations. When we clearly see the problems of others, their fears and hopes, joy and sorrows, We will certainly understand ourselves better. We will keep a distance to our own problems. The essence of love is the service for others (Only this one, who understands that, he may feel fulfilled, live well), Being a brother of every man and creation, Finding joy in giving something to others. Serve with love does not necessarily mean a rational analysis of their behavior (Everyone has the right to make mistakes), After all, love is a feeling, emotion and this is not the best served, who understands.
The poem has two stanzas (Six and four verses), It was written by eleven. Is a kind of maximum laconic philosophy treaty (This is a common form in the poetry of Czesław Miłosz).
