The impact of war on the human psyche

According to the Polish language dictionary, war is an organized armed struggle between states, nations or religious or social groups with various goals, For example, the seizure of a foreign territory, or destroying the opponent. Leads to fights between people, causes persecution, and also hurts their psyche.
In my work I would like to deal with the last aspect especially – the influence of the war on the human psyche. Symptoms of mental disorders occurring in humans, who survived the war, the doctors called the post -traumatic stress syndrome – or PTSD (z ang. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Neurologists identified these disorders as a reduction in the volume, responsible mainly for memory – Hitgravampa. The most frequent symptoms are mentioned in falling asleep disorders, Difficulties in concentration, irritability, bursts of anger and anger and the impression of experiencing a terrible event again.
The events of the Second World War are one of the most tragic moments in the life of the 20th century humanity. During it, people met with unprecedented brutality, indifference to suffering, created by the ideologies of fighting countries (Nazism and communism). The war degrades the human psyche, because under its influence there is a process of experience, that is, the loss of higher feelings. Arguments confirming the support of this thesis are shown by the authors of the prose period of the Second World War, and by later reviewers of this most tragic conflict in the history of the world.
It is easy to see, that both writers and poets not taking a direct participation in the fight (Miron Białoszewski, Tadeusz Borowski, Gustaw-Herling Grudziński) as well as involved in the underground fight (Kazimierz Moczarski), They stayed through the action of the war, tragic images, terrifying experiences permanently mutilated mentally. However, we must not forget about the impact of ideology on the psyche of torturers. Before they were infected with Nazism or communism, they were normal people. German soldiers through Hitler and Nazism he promoted, they became blind performers of cruel orders, They have lost the weight of the superior values, Just like Jurgen Stroop or Professor Spanner. Therefore, the war leads to mental degenerations both persecuted and persecuting.
The influence of war on the human psyche can be effectively presented by comparing two heroes, who fought against each other during the Second World War. They are Miron Białoszewski, young, Twenty -year -old writer, for which Warsaw has always been a family home and which survived the Warsaw Uprising, and Jurgen Stroop, brutal in their actions, Non -convenient SS general, Being the hero of Kazimierz Moczarski's book: "Talks with the executioner".
Jurgen Stroop was born in a small town, He gained basic education. Father – A policeman had been instilling respect for the authorities and the obligation to obey him since he was a child. He grew up in a poor family, faithful Germanic tradition.
Historia wojskowej służby Stroopa to typowy przykład kariery za posłuszność w nazistowskim aparacie terroru. As a volunteer, he took part in the First World War, where superiors assessed him with euphoria as a human, which was characterized by the cult of war (He often spoke to himself: "War is a selective biological and psychological procedure necessary for every nation"), He was lured by a uniform and soldier's armament, orders, badges; He was suited to the barrack life and military regulations. After World War I, Jurgen Stroop has joined the NSDAP and it is due to this event to his later position in the ranks of the party.
Thanks to his ruthlessness and full devotion to Fuhrer and Himmler, from an ordinary postal official, He became one of the most brutal German SS generals. He was directly involved in the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto, during which he sentenced to death close 71 thousands of Jewish population. We should ask ourselves why from an ordinary official Stroop became a murderer and torturer of a large format. What happened to his psyche and what worked on him, that he abandoned all moral norms, He rejected faith, He rejected interpersonal love, and instead of her he gave the victims the death of his loved ones and indescribable suffering? The answer to this question is directly combined with ideology, which Stroop soaked in his youth. He saw the horrors of the First World War, He also saw the defeat of great Germany, which he proudly represented. He could not accept the humiliation of the Versailles Treaty, That is why at that time it was open to any ideas for Germany regaining power. Nazi ideology perfectly matched the requirements, Stroop put in front of him.
