Another author showing the influence of war on the human psyche in his work is Gustaw Herling-Grudziński. In the novel "Another World" shows its story – man, who survived the Russian labor camp. In the labor camps, the prisoners were kept below the border of humanity. All rules, thanks to which people function in society in the wild, They have been completely reduced to one, supreme value – experiences at all costs, Even at the expense of another person. Grudziński shows us the process of destroying man by the system of Soviet labor camps and the desperate struggle of the human individual to preserve his own dignity. Most of the author's memories come from the camp in Jercewo. The image of the reality. The prisoners never knew, When they are released. When the sentence was over, At that time, the next years were added to him, for example for offenses committed in the camp. They were forced to work hard even in snow and in the cold. Food ration depended on the developed norm, which was unable to satisfy the constantly teasing, devastating not only physically, but also mentally hunger. However, a much greater crime is the assassination of morality. Fear and fear of death can lead to behavior without any social norms, inhuman. There is no place in Jercewo or friendship, or even more for love. However, rapes are common, denunciation and death. Physical torment could break in a man of Jergoducha, destroy personality and professed rules. Sometimes, however, a short break at work was enough, meeting at the house of Swidanij with a loved one or a letter from the family, that politeness and kindness to be hidden under a hard shell of indifference and hatred.
The author of "Another World" described the realities of the Soviet labor camp very accurately. He showed us to what degree of animality and deprivation of dignity you can bring a moral and sensitive man. Despite all the pessimism of the song, Gustaw Herling – Grudziński also shows us several characters (np. Kostylew – set), who tried to defend their humanity even at the price of life. I want to make us aware, that Łagier creates the title "different world" and we should not assess prisoners according to the moral categories of applicable free people.
Cycle: Zofia Nałkowska's "Medallions" is one of the earliest testimonies of the fascist genocide. It is largely based on the accounts of people surviving from the slaughter of the victims, on local visions and testimonies of witnesses of the crime. The author tells the truth about those days – the truth contained in these words, who saw and survived. The author was a member of the Main Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Poland and this fact was mainly influenced by the decision to write this collection. "Medallions" are written in a substantive language of reportage prose, deprived of comments and behavior assessments.
The author had talks with survivors of fascist terror in Poland, She met the real facts, which took place during the war, as well as traces and methods of crime and criminals, and based on the authentic relations of participants or witnesses of the crime, she constructed a nightmare vision.
