During the war he lived in Łódź, where he was the head of the Polish Theater. From 1918 r. He lived in Hrubieszów, and from 1922 in Zamość. W 1935 r. He moved to Warsaw. He was buried in the Powązki cemetery.
He probably made his debut in 1895 r. poem Sextins, zamieszczonym w tygodniku “Wanderer”. In his youth, he also practiced poetry in Russian. From the very beginning he broke the Young Poland conventions and manifested his own poetic attitude. In his work you can find the motives for returning to nature and philosophical considerations and widely developed symbolism. In the mid -1930s, Leśmian's poetry undergoes a metamorphosis: It disappears lightly, rub, and his place is taken by dark and gloomy humor, The motives of nothingness and death appear, The tragic humanism wins – The other man turns out to be the basic problem for man. One of the characteristic features in his poetry was also the richness of introduced neologisms. This creator is currently included in the group of leading classics of Polish poetry.
