Clutch repair
Use force to exert pressure 85 kG (85 daN) on the diaphragm spring, which should move the release bearing by 8 mm and the pressure ring by at least 1.4 mm .
To check clutch plate side runout, it should be mounted on the shaft in the lathe, slowly turn the dial and determine the amount of runout by the dial gauge (Place the sensor pin on the outside of the hub as much as possible). Lateral runout should not exceed 0,25 nim, otherwise the clutch disc must be replaced (also when the friction linings are worn). It is recommended to replace the clutch plate together with the clutch housing. A defective release bearing causes an unpleasant noise when disengaging the clutch. A damaged bearing must be replaced. The shut-off lever must not be bent or cracked, as it will cause clutching difficulties or be damaged.
The flywheel must not show any discoloration or groove. Fortunately, with the exception of the flywheel, parts for the Fiat Uno clutch are not expensive. Therefore, it is more profitable to replace questionable clutch components, than costly dismantling the clutch again later.
Setting the clutch pedal
Clutch adjustment is limited to adjusting the clutch pedal play. This play increases with wear of the clutch.
The nut on the engine end of the clutch cable must be positioned this way, pedal free travel is 15 mm. The working stroke of the pedal should be 120 mm.
