ISOFIX car seat mounting system

Analysis of many road accidents showed, that children transported in special car seats, that were poorly fixed, were severely injured, and the seat released from the mount was often the cause of injuries to other passengers of the car. On the basis of these analyses, the Institute's international security team
Standardization ISO has developed a standard, specifying how to attach car seats to transport children aged 0-4 years. This system, called ISOFIX, is designed to guarantee the correct position and effective protection of the car seat in the car.
The system prevents the release of the seat structure in the event of a collision, and the child sitting in it has no contact with any element of the car, deformed during a frontal or side impact. The system consists of a special frame mounted on the combination of the backrest and the seat of the rear seat of the car, a system of hooks mounted to the base of the seat and guides facilitating the connection of the seat with the frame.
The ISOFIX system makes it much easier to install car seats. Just slide the base hooks into the guides, located between the backrest and the seat and press. The hitch will work automatically. Release of the lock is possible after moving a special spring-secured lever, which is so placed, that disconnecting the hooks from the lock is not possible without opening the vehicle door, which protects against releasing the seat while driving. The frame with guides and latches and the hooks mounted in the base must meet strictly defined technical and material requirements.
