All Opel Kadett E models are equipped with an alternator with built-in silicon diodes, serving as a rectifier element. The alternator does not need to be serviced.
You can find alternators in cars 45 A the 55 A (on request), and from 1985 r. also 65A
Replacing the alternator
For all engine types and versions, the alternator is located on the right side of the engine block.
■ Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
■ Remove the plug from the rear cover of the alternator
■ Disconnect the red wire from the "B +" terminal”, then the ground wire
■ Loosen the top and bottom alternator mounting bolts
■ Move the alternator towards the engine and remove the V-belt.
■ Remove the alternator.
Installation is in the reverse order. Do not forget to tension the V-belt correctly.
