REAR DISC BRAKE – Fiat Uno

REAR DISC BRAKE

Fiat Uno Turbo i.e cars. have disc brakes with floating calipers on the rear axle. The clamp guides are made in the form of pins, just like the front brakes. The calipers are equipped with an emergency brake mechanism.

Replacing the friction inserts

■ Raise the rear of the car and remove the rear wheels. The friction inserts must be replaced in pairs, simultaneously on both sides of the axle.

■ Unscrew the clamp guides.

■ Remove clamp body and suspend to suspension.

■ Remove the friction inserts. Acceptable, the minimum thickness of the friction linings is 1,5 mm.

■ Turning the plunger clockwise, return it to the center of the body. If the piston cannot be moved anymore, the complete clamp must be replaced.

■ Insert new friction inserts and install the brake caliper.

■ Depress the brake pedal several times, to move the inserts against the disc brake rotor. This will automatically adjust the emergency brake mechanism in the caliper.
