Replace the disc brake caliper – Fiat Uno

Replace the brake caliper

■ Unscrew the clamp.

■ Clamp the rear hose and disconnect it from the tube at the wheel.

■ Unhook the emergency brake cable from the caliper and pull it out of the holder.

■ Check the condition of both lines and that they are easy to move.

■ Attach the brake hose to the new caliper, then screw it to the rigid pipe in the untwisted position.

■ Connect the emergency brake cable and install the caliper.

■ Bleed the brake system.

■ When replacing the calipers, always install new friction inserts.

■ If the disc brake rotor has deep grooves, it can be rolled to thickness 9,7 mm. Below thickness 9.0 mm, the disc must be replaced.

■ Rear disc brakes are checked in the same way as front brakes.

■ The emergency brake is adjusted by pulling the lever on 4…5 clove. The bigger one, compared to drum brakes, the lever stroke is needed to activate the mechanism in the brake caliper.
