Basic set

Only a complete and correct set of tools can guarantee a satisfactory repair result. Before you get down to work, check it out, do you really have the right tools, following the directions provided.

■ Poor tool, which will deform or break at the first rusty bolt, will cause you trouble and deprive you of the satisfaction of working on your own.

■ When purchasing basic tools, pay attention to their quality. Good tools will be reliable.

■ If you only tinker occasionally, all you need is a basic set of tools.

A set of screwdrivers with good handles and with different tips: Flat, cross and torx.

Set of flat and mesh wrenches. Double-sided flat wrenches with sizes from 6 do 19 mm. It is worth having two sets of combination wrenches 10, 13, 17 i 19 mm for bolted connections with counter nuts.

Special socket wrench for SW candles 16 with rubber insert.

Allen keys (mandrel) in sizes from 2 do 8 mm.

Tools for working on electrical equipment are insulated combination pliers, pliers for crimping cable terminals, insulated screwdriver and electric tester with lead.

Universal pliers, wire cutters and pliers, at least a length 240 mm will facilitate bending, cutting, holding and turning when working on the car.

For work in the engine compartment and under the car, you will need a socket wrench set from 10 do 32 mm with a half-inch ratchet, and for work inside the car – with ratchet 1/4 cala, where, in addition to plastic latches and screws with cross and torx heads, bolts with sizes ranging from 6 do 13 mm. Buying a set is definitely more advantageous than single keys.

Engineer's hammer, preferably by weight 300 g, will be useful e.g.. for removing jammed pins. For delicate components such as bearings, castings and hardened parts, rubber or plastic hammers are used. Sheet metal hammers are used for work on the body.

A punch marks the places where you want to drill in metal, diameter punches 3 i 6 mm are needed for assembly work on the chassis, engine and brakes, a hardened cutter may be required to cut off rusty or deformed bolts and nuts.
