Coolant replacement – Fiat Uno

Coolant replacement

The coolant used in Fiat Uno cars is a mixture of water and glycol with the addition of anti-corrosion agents.

In trade, this liquid may be known as "Liquido Paraflu 11 Fiat”.

■ Blend 35% coolants and 65% water has a freezing point down to -25°C. If the proportions are 50:50%, liquid does not freeze to -35°C.

■ The fluid should be changed every 2 lata, also if oil has entered it as a result of damage.

■ Only fill the fluid through the expansion tank, with a cold engine. When doing so, pay attention to the level marks on the reservoir.

■ After changing the fluid, the cooling system must be bled. To do this, open the air vent screw in the conduit to the heater. Set the heater valve to heating, pour in the liquid, until it leaks out of the breather without any air bubbles. Close the vent screw and add fluid to the reservoir. Start the engine and let it warm up, until the upper radiator hose becomes warm. Allow engine to cool down, and if necessary, level the fluid in the reservoir.

■ If leaking fluid is found, determine the location of the leak. Screw in a special pump in place of the tank cap. Open the heater valve and pressurize the cooling system to its maximum 0,78 only (0,078 MPa). Check all wire connections, cooler and heater. Clean up fluid leaks.
