REAR SUSPENSION – Fiat Uno

The rear suspension consists of a torsionally steel beam, to which the longitudinal arms are welded. The beam with wishbones is attached to the body by metal-rubber bushings. The spring elements of the suspension are coil springs, while the vibration damping element are telescopic shock absorbers, mounted next to the springs. Car suspension with engine 1300 The Turbo differs from the others only in the braking system, which has discs with clamps instead of drums.

Removal / installation of the suspension

■ Bring the car to the channel (lift).

■ Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir.

■ Remove the rear wheels.

■ Disconnect the brake hose on the right side from the pipe and plug it.

■ Disconnect the cable (cable) the emergency brake from the lever and release it from its holders.

■ Unhook the spring of the braking force regulator at the bottom.

■ Unscrew the upper fastening of the shock absorbers, from the trunk.

■ Lower the rear axle with the jack.

■ Remove the springs.

■ Unscrew the bolts securing the control arms to the body and remove the rear axle.

The rear axle is installed in the reverse order. A damaged metal-rubber bushing of the rocker arm can be cut off on one side and knock out l sockets or use a Kukko puller. The new sleeve is pressed in after lubricating with soapy water. The shock absorber and rocker mountings are tightened, with the required moments, only after the car has been lowered onto its wheels and loaded with its weight 4 people and load 40 kg in the trunk.

Finally, bleed the brake system, set the braking force regulator and adjust the emergency brake.
