BRAKING FORCE CORRECTOR – Fiat Uno

BRAKING FORCE CORRECTOR

The brake force regulator is located between the master cylinder and the rear brake cylinders and is designed to prevent the rear wheels from locking during heavy braking.. The corrector operation depends on the load on the rear axle. The deflections of the rear suspension are transferred to the corrector by the spring.

If, during normal braking, the rear wheels lock or the front brakes are overheated and the braking effect is lost, it is necessary to adjust the equalizer.

Corrector, which is leaking or protrudes like this after adjustment. that the piston is immobilized, needs to be replaced with a new one. The corrector cannot be repaired.

To replace the corrector, unscrew the adjoining brake lines, detach the spring from the lever (3) and unscrew the bolts securing the bracket. Unscrew the corrector from the bracket.

After installing a new corrector, bleed the brake system and set the corrector as described below.

■ Park the car on level ground. The fuel tank should be full, and the spare wheel and original equipment must be in place.

■ Load the luggage compartment with a load of a weight 65 kg (3-door car) the 55 kg (5-door car). The load should be placed behind the backrest.

■ Loosen the adjusting screw (1) on the lever (2). Attach a weight to this lever 6 kg.

■ Retighten the adjusting screw and remove the load.

■ Carry out a test drive.
